Summary:
Eagle Eye Networks is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to design, manage, and optimize the global database infrastructure that powers our industry-leading cloud video surveillance platform. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PostgreSQL and Cassandra, and will be excited to work with modern, evolving database technologies at large scale.
This role requires strong experience running high-performance, global, distributed databases, designing efficient schemas, and optimizing for performance and reliability. Experience with sharding, high availability, performance tuning, and Kubernetes workloads is strongly preferred. An interest in cutting-edge database technology is a plus.
This is an in-office role based at our Austin, TX headquarters. Occasional travel is less than 10%.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement, manage, and maintain PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and other database systems across development, staging, and production environments
  • Run performant, large-scale global database environments to support high transaction volumes and demanding latency/throughput requirements
  • Design scalable and efficient database schemas optimized for performance, flexibility, and business needs
  • Implement sharding, replication, partitioning, clustering, and other distributed database strategies
  • Continuously optimize queries and data access patterns for performance and scalability
  • Monitor and tune database performance using modern tools and best practices
  • Develop and manage robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Manage database security, compliance, and access controls
  • Work with application engineers to support product development, schema evolution, and performance optimization
  • Participate in database infrastructure planning and evolution — helping guide Eagle Eye to next-gen solutions
  • Document architecture, standards, and processes
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging database technologies
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years professional experience as a Database Administrator or similar role
  • Expertise in PostgreSQL and Cassandra in large-scale production environments
  • Experience with Redis is a plus
  • Proven ability to design and manage large, global, high-performance databases
  • In-depth understanding of sharding, replication, partitioning, clustering, indexing, performance tuning, and query optimization
  • Proficient in database schema design and data modeling
  • Experience running Kubernetes workloads is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable in Linux/Unix environments, with solid scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong knowledge of database monitoring, observability, and alerting
  • Understanding of database security and compliance best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Interest in cutting-edge and evolving database technologies is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and detail-oriented
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience
  • Work Environment:
    • This is a full-time, in-office position based in Austin, TX
    • Travel is less than 10%
